Eclipses and angular diameters
To begin with, we will need to find ways of getting a stable projected image of the Sun, on to a screen. The simplest is to find a suitable tree whose foliage gives us nicely focussed sharp and circular pinhole images of the Sun. Not so simple, really. We cannot be sure that a tree with the right foliage to give us an image of the Sun, just at the time of the eclipse, is available.
