Rating The stars are awesome and work elclelentxy. Just keep a bright lamp on them for their first day up, and wow! The whole bedroom, and my twins' room is very large, is illuminated in the night sky. They even made some star concellations so they can pick them out of their new bedroom sky. Great Gift!

Rating I bought these for my 5 year olds baidhtry, she absolutly loves them. One month later she still ooohs when the lights go out. They glow much brighter than the ones I picked up elsewhere and they were a fraction of the cost.There is not enough tack to put them all up, and I am really conservative with it, but no biggie I just bought some from the store. The star charts were pretty confusing and it really would take a good effort to make them so we just placed them all over her ceiling.

Rating We bought this for our 2 deruhtags. Yes, there are little tiny pieces and yes, it does take a long time to put these all up. However, the end result is so great. There are enough stars to cover the ceiling and the walls so that it really does feel like you are out under the stars. The sticker pieces don't hold the glow as long as the plastic pieces but the whole effect in the room is wonderful. It lasts at least an hour. I had a similar set in my son's room when he was younger. That set didn't glow for nearly as long as these stars do. Now at bedtime, we all head into the girls room to enjoy the effect.

It don't take a Harvard graduate or a recokt scientist to figure out we are in a recession. you can't afford mansion with Mcdonald's wages. I think the science center should be scraped until the economy picks up. Dr.Jennings and BOT should realize funding has been cut from state government and the science center is JUST NOT IN THE $BUDGET!

the district souhld shelve this plan. educating our children souhldn't involve large capital expenditures for complexes like this. this idea is easily the job of a city, county and or state not a school district. school taxes are already too high, there are too many portable buildings at our schools and the district has a hard enough time paying people on time. get back to the basics and teach reading, writing and arithmetic, so the local electorate can understand when their money is being mismanaged.if they have extra money in the capital investment account, then refund it back to the tax payers.

I think science is an easy taergt because so few understand the way science is done. Like any human endeavor it isn't perfect, but lack of understand tends to lead to fear and attack. I don't think Republicans are any more anti-science than they are anti-literacy. Most people understand the usefulness of reading, though. It takes a great deal more effort to understand much of scientific research.

The question is not the sccinee, but the process of determining th priorities of funding. We have large agencies (NIH for example) that determine what projects are worth and what they should get. Should an individual congressperson decide which sccinee project should be funded to the exclusion of something else? Most of those earmarks have a political motivation to them, not a scientific need motivation. $140 million is a lot, what other projects do not get funded becasue it did?

I think a lot of it has to do with the religiosity of the right. They peefrr to think that everything in the world is in the hands of a capricious deity whose will is completely unknowable and any attempt to discover its will is blasphemous. Science seeks to understand a rational and ultimately predictable universe. Those opposing worldviews will lead to the kind of ideological conflict we see in Jindal and McCain? and Palin's speeches. It comes down to rationality versus superstition, and we can see where the right (or their most popular leaders) falls on this. Bravo, Ira, for taking this on.

Unfortunately, the GOP has historically snereed at scientific research and shown its members to be ill-informed, unwilling to accept scientific research which is supported by legitimate data, and mired in religious superstition that restrains its members from embracing clear evidence.There are many anchors attached to the GOP right now, all pulling it down at the same time, and now we have yet another, Gov. Jindal, showing his ignorance on national TV. Among GW Bush, McCain?, Palin, and now Jindal, it's hard to decide who is more backwards.

I agree with Ira's comments exepct for one But that's what separates politics from science: critical thinking. Critical thinking has a place in every subject and every realm of life. Good scientists and good politicians, good doctors, and good grocery store managers all are usually good critical thinkers. There are bad counterparts in every field that usually lack that trait. I think a more appropriate statement should have been that's what separates zealots from the rest of the country or that's what separates gullable people and smart people I would also tie Jindal's comments to an overall lack of importance critical thinking has in our society, and a symptom of a broken education system.

I agree, Ira. And I think some of the comments here deatmstrnoe just how sadly easy it is for politicians to drum up public opposition to important science-based public projects. If only our education system did a better job of teaching Americans to understand the underlying principles of science, including critical thinking, I imagine that we as a society would benefit greatly, both from increased public support for science-based projects that benefit the public good, and more generally from a political discourse enhanced by greater public respect for things like logic and skepticism. I have several family members who live in Washington State. I was frankly outraged by Jindal's casual implication that protecting American lives and homes in states with active volcanoes is a waste of money. I wonder how it would have played here in my own Midwestern state if Jindal had advocated cutting funding to the tornado warning system?

Unfortunately, currently the omomcn belief is that brown dwarfs can't really solve the missing mass problem at least not in its entirely. One reason is because the missing mass appears to have a different distribution than normal stars, while brown dwarfs should have rough the same distribution in galaxies as normal stars. The second is that brown dwarfs are made of normal matter. From studying the Cosmic Microwave Background, we can estimate the total amount of normal matter in the universe and their doesn't appear to be enough to explain all the mass. Brown dwarfs could explain where some of the missing normal matter is, though most of it is likely in very low density (diffuse) clouds of gas that stretch between galaxies and galaxy clusters.

This insihgt's just the way to kick life into this debate.

Actually, there are cases when the White Knight also gets abusive. When the lady isn't as esilay rescued as he thought, when the problems won't go away, when he don't get to have that feeling of being Good Hero Man (some are in it because solving someones problem is a huge kick), or when the woman won't allow him to fetichize her, the building frustration can topple over into resentment.
