Ask an Astronomer/Educator and have your say!
Compiled here, are discussions from the yahoogroup
http://groups.yahoo.com/groups/Astronomy_Activities_2009/
This has been started in the spirit of an "Ask the Astronomer/Educator" chat room, which remains friendly to the very beginner, while allowing discussions of interest, to the experts. The group has been started as part of the activities for the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
If you have not already, please do join the group, and add to the discussions, it would be so very welcome :-)
The group is honoured to have the active presence of Prof. Govind Swaroop, father of Radio Astronomy in India. It is also wonderful that many professional astronomers and scientists from Institutes like the Physical Research Laboratories, Ahmedabad, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, ARIES, Nainital, HBSCE, IUCAA and the Delhi University, are present in the group.
Enthusiastic educators and seasoned amateur astronomers have been participating very actively in the group.
The student community in the group is also growing. Any help that can be given by any individual or Institution, to spread the word about the group and get students to become members of the group, would be so very welcome and useful :-)
The group is yet to grow into its full possibility as a useful countrywide chatroom, but, there are some useful ongoing discussions.
The useful discussions from the group are being archived here under the following heads :-
(These are ongoing discussions, added sequentially as they appear in the group, please do join in and add to the usefulness of these discussions)
The group discussions are now being archived at the Taarewiki. It is likely that the archives at this location (for general Astronomy topics) and this location (for discussions on quantifying light pollution) at the Taarewiki are more up-to-date. However, there will always be a bit of a phase lag in archiving, and the group site might be the best location to see the most recent discussions.
